John Pisano has helped shaped the sound of jazz guitar for decades. From his early days with the Chico Hamilton Quintet to writing hits for Herb Alpert and serving as Joe Pass’s trusted rhythm guitarist, John brought depth, taste, and an unmistakable touch to every project. He also created Guitar Night on the West Coast, a beloved tradition that brought guitarists together in the spirit of collaboration and community. In 2001, when Frank Vignola was touring with Les Paul, John invited him over for some homemade pizza and a little recording — a warm, simple gesture that sparked the idea for an East Coast Guitar Night at Birdland almost 20 years later. This recording is the result of that meeting: two friends, two guitars, and a shared love for the music, and pizza!
